ATHLETICS

Our College has a proud history of athletic achievements, excelling at Zonal, Provincial, and All Island Meets, as well as international competitions. With record-breaking performances and championship titles, our athletes have consistently demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, supported by the unwavering guidance of coaches and the encouragement of the school community.

BADMINTON

Badminton was introduced to the College in 2000, with practices beginning at the Youth Development Centre, Gampaha. Guided by experienced national coaches, the team quickly progressed, competing in the All-Island Schools Tournament. Over the years, the College has achieved significant success at the All-Island level, marking a proud chapter in its sports history.

CRICKET

Cricket at St. Peter’s College – Gampaha Branch began in 1994, overcoming challenges like limited facilities to perform well in tournaments. With dedicated coaching and guidance, the sport has grown significantly. In 2022, the Under 13 and Under 15 teams showcased their progress by winning all first-round matches and advancing to the second round.

SOCCER

The College Soccer Squad’s journey since its inception in 2003/04 has been one of passion and success. Overcoming challenges, the team has steadily grown, achieving notable milestones such as Gampaha District Runners-Up and Minuwangoda Zonal Runners-Up in 2022. The dedication of players, coaches, and staff continues to shape its inspiring legacy.

KARATE

Karate at the College began in 2007, with the team achieving early success in tournaments organized by the Sri Lanka Martial Arts Academy and representing the nation in the International Wuso Karate Tournament in Hyderabad. Competing at Zonal, Provincial, and National levels, the team continues to excel, showcasing discipline and dedication.

SWIMMING

Swimming at St. Peter’s College, Gampaha Branch, began in 2000, guided by dedicated coaches and teachers. It continues to hold a special place in the sporting life of our college, and our swimmers have always brought pride and glory to their alma mater through their commitment, discipline, and excellent performances.

CHESS

Founded in 2012 by Rev. Fr. Chaminda Wanigasena with key support from staff and coach Mr. M. A. D. C. Ranasinghe, the College Chess Club quickly rose to success, winning the Siyane Chess Tournament that same year and continuing its streak through 2022. Despite challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic, the team adapted with online practices, achieving notable victories in 2022. The dedication of Rev. Sr. Irangani Fernando and Mr. Ranasinghe has been crucial to the club’s success.

TAEKWONDO

Since its inception in 2007, the Taekwondo team at St. Peter’s College, Gampaha Branch, has achieved remarkable success. Competing in local and international tournaments, the team has earned numerous medals, showcasing their talent and dedication. Guided by skilled coaches and leaders, they continue to bring pride and glory to the College.

SCOUTING

The Scouting movement at St. Peter’s College, Gampaha Branch, began in 1998 and has grown with notable achievements, including the first millennium ceremony in 2000 and the establishment of a green initiative. Scouts have earned President’s Awards and participated in key events, such as the 13th National Cubboree and the launch of Singithi Scouting in 2022. Their continued success is guided by dedicated mentors and leaders.
